Biography | Timothy Greenfield-Sanders

This is a photographer that I love to look at, as he has done what he has from art portraits to fashion shoots. The camera that he use was built in 1905 and it was a large format camera which is 11x14 film and a 22x24 poloriad camera as well.

There is more to him then I have said but take your own look as there is more then meets the eye.  He mainly takes portraits and these are some examples he has done enjoy.

This is an editorial that Annie Leibovitz did with a Russian model called Natalia VodianovaIt was a spread in the 2003 December issue of Vogue. As you can see by the front cover with what it has said that this is Leibovitz version of the book and the way she has took in the story.

This is a good start for the magazine that Vogue did as it gives the feel to the start of the story and how it came about as Vodianova is just starting out as a model at this point.

This is called CURIOUSER AND CURIOUSERThe image is of Alice and a photographer which was one of Lewis Carroll's hobbies. The dress was designed by Theyskens. Which is a light blue flower and ruffled dress.

As this is the first picture it gives great feelings on the work as well as a good look. I love how Leidovitz has used an old camera to show what Carroll loved to do as a hobby. But Vodianova's face shows that as Alice she is bored and in need of something fun. The lack of colour shows that the real world is not what she likes and would like to do something else other then what she is doing. To me this is a great shot as there is some emotion in their faces as well as boredom.

The is called DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE. The dress designer was Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent Gauche. The dress is a sky-blue silk-satin dress. This was done while she was chasing Tom Fords white rabbit.

As you can see in the image it is now color as they are now going down to the wonderland so there is color and feeling to the image. As well as texture and movement. The way that the dress is flying looks amazing with excess material flapping about. As well as her hair flying up in the air. There is just something about this photo that I love.

This is called DRINK ME. The dress designer is Helmut Lang. It is the darkest blue that was done in this whole project but it does work out amazingly. As the dress would be hoped not to be crushed as Helmut Lang would watch on from the wall. This is an amazing and stunning dress which works well in its surroundings.

This blue is one of my favorite colours. This is in the white rabbit's house as she is getting him is gloves and fan. The look that Vodianova is showing in her face is of discomfort and pain as she looks out of place in such a small place. The dress is modern and very feminine.

This is called ADVICE FROM A CATERPILLAR. This dress was Clad in Marc Jacobs's. It is a minidress that works well here as she is meant to be small to be able to talk to the caterpillar.

This is a great shot and a good way to do the caterpillar as he is there smoking a cigarette. The look that he has gives the role he is playing more meaning. As he is sitting there on the big mushroom and looking out at the world. As Vodianova is standing there looking confused as she talks to him in a roundabout way. I think this could have been edited in Photoshop as the place the person is sitting would break any mushroom that size. But then again it could be made of wood.

This is called PIG AND PEPPER. The dress designer is Chanel. The dress is a Chanel Haute Couture which was embroidered satin jacket which had a draping skirt as well as leather boot pants.

The lighting in this photo is really nice as you are getting the halo effect and some sun on the lens. It looks like she has taken this during sunset as there is a bit of orange tint to the sky as well as being quite low. I do like the guy on the left, looking like he is cool trendy as well as all knowing. On Vodianova you have an even light whereas on the guy to the left there is some light where the sun is but nothing on the other side of his face and body. I think this is not one of the strongest shots that has been done in this project yet it is not the weakest in my choices.

This is called THE CHESHIRE CAT. The dress is amazing looking flowing dress that looks like it would float in the wind, a light blue silk-jersey dress. It was designed by Gaultier Paris.

This is a good photo as it is shot with natural light and fake light. The one at the back looks unreal as well as there are signs on the trees that show light going through the canopy which is golden and sun looking whereas the light at the back has blown out the background as well as being white. I love there is some light going through the trees in the foreground as it gives a mystical feel to the picture.

This is called TWEEDLEDUM AND TWEEDLEDEE. The dress was designed by Viktor & Rolfty. It is a multilayer silk dress. The Tweeds are wearing matching suits that they had designed. They are also the designers of the dress that Alice is wearing.

This is no way the best image that was done in the project in fact I think it is the worst Tweedy picture I have ever seen. It just looks boring and nothing technical about it. I just have no feelings for it as it looks boring. It looks as if it is just a three person portrait.

This is called THE MAD TEA PARTY. The dress is a Christian Lacroix Haute Couture design. It is a mink dickey which has been painted and with an over lace top and frilled lame skirt. The Mad Hatter is wearing a custom hat that he made himself (Stephen Jones). The March Hair is on the far right of the picture wearing a light brown suit.

This is a great scene in the whole project as there is some great colour and feel as the hatter sits there looking around and contemplating on life and why things were the way they were. It invokes feeling to the story and understanding to the plot as the Hatter and Hair are having their un-birthday party.

This is called WHO STOLE MY TARTS?. The dress was made by the Queen who is John Galliano. It is aDior Haute Couture which has been painted with polka-dots. The Queen is wearing a Dior Haute Couture coat. The King is Alexis Roche as he is accompanied beside the Queen.

This might not be my favorite dress but the colours and feeling in the image are amazing. Using a man as the queen is a very clever idea. But i think it does not need to have the king there as well because the queen looks great on his own. Also the fact that there is only one heart on the queen is also a good idea as that is only in his crown.

This is called THE MOCK TURTLE'S STORY. This is designed bAtelier Versace. The dress is a silk-tulle and chiffon-organza lined dress which has lace in it. Donatella Versace and Rupert Everett are in Versace.

This is one big dress and looks amazing in its own right. The turtle is just singing away about a song as he has the look of someone singing. Doing it by the river is a great idea as there is some reflection on there of the background which gives you the feeling that something big is going on or been done.

This is called THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS. The dress was designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. It is  crystal pleated chiffon dress and grey ankle boots. This is where Alice is going in to the shadow world with her cat purring on the side.

I love the way this image has been constructed as there is a dark space where the mirror should be. Then the person who is meant to be the cat just sitting there and looking on like nothing is happening. But Alice is starting to do the next book that was written by Lewis Carrol. This also gives a good finish to the story.

Thanks for looking at what is Alice in wonderland by Annie Leibovitz. This is some amazing work that I will use as a reference to what I will be doing in my project as I would love to get the feel and look of these images.

I got this information from: -

Also I have put in my own views on the images which is written in Georgia.
